Exploring Cape Eluanbi

Today, after my morning walk (see previous post) we had a mixed easter/western buffet breakfast at the hotel (excellent food, BTW) then hit the road for some exploring. The Chateau is situated on Cape Eluanbi, the southern most peninsula of Taiwan.

I was able to continue my "new fruit adventures" at breakfast this morning when Chunnan introduced me to Passion Fruit. It's colorful and sweet/tart. The seeds kind of pop when you chew them up. I liked it a lot.

Shu-Min taking a pictures of Chunnan and Mom at Sail Rock just outside of Kenting, the village with the street market we went to last night.

The amazingly colorful bay just past sail rock. The blue water and the green seaweed and the white beaches were beautiful.

Cape Eluanbi Lighthouse, originally built in 1888. It was severely damaged in WWII but not rebuilt until 1962.

The grounds around the lighthouse have an impressive nature trail area with vistas and overlooks all along the shore. However, the sign at the trailhead is a little daunting.

More of those colorful waters, this time seen from one of the lookouts on the Eluanbi trails.

A close up of the picture above (this is currently my computer wallpaper) shows another resort in this area and the mountain that dominates the landscape (sorry, the name eludes me just now).

Two fisherwomen surf fishing. Seems dangerous if a rogue waves comes along, but I guess they know what they're doing.

Shu-Min, Mom, and Chunnan infront of Eluanbi Lighthouse.

Same people, same place, different composition. :-)

Chunnan at the marker for THE southernmost tip of Taiwan.

I'll post more about our lunch and tea-time and dinner later...Chunnan is rushing me out the door.
